think instead: ron didn’t even know if harry was in trouble, he just had a bad feeling because they didn’t hear from him all summer and knew harry’s family was abusive and awful. when you’re a kid, if you go to adults with “well i THINK he might be being abused and i need to help him” they respond with “well let’s just wait and see before we do anything rash” so odds are, he’d mentioned that harry wasn’t responding and no one took it as seriously as he did and he was like “well fuck i’ll fix it then” which isn’t always the best choice but it sure was better than doing nothing.
