twelveclara:

do y’all even UNDERSTAND what this episode of rwby just did???? do y’all get it???? not only did we get yang singling out blake as someone who means something different to her than weiss or ruby (notice yang’s use of both “i” and “we” whereas weiss spoke of them as “we” – yang: what if i needed her to be here for me) but we got the most perfect character parallel of all time.

ilia has always been paralleled to sun, and yang to adam. does ilia’s admission of unrequited love – you were always looking at him, i wanted you to look at me that way – remind us of anyone else, who currently looks at blake that way but is never looked at by her? sun, of course. sun who couldn’t even imagine how to get blake to the dance back at beacon. sun who didn’t know the first thing about how to relate to her, appeal to her. sun, whom she still has shown no romantic interest towards. sun, who was captured in a very deliberate, stunning visual of staring at yang and blake’s joined hands in heroes & monsters – yang, who, by all intents and purposes, was the only person blake listened to, looked at.

also the fact that ilia almost had her captured and sent to adam in mistral, and we all know that when blake actually arrives in mistral, it’s going to be to yang. there is a lot to be said abut location-based storytelling and narratives. and the parallel of having sun + ilia in menagerie to mirror each other vs having yang + adam in mistral to (eventually) play off of each other isn’t an accident.

on top of all this, we got blake canonically being the object of another girl’s attraction in a blatantly romantic way. there’s no denying this. meaning the show has now made that attraction an option. and, yall can think what you like, but i personally don’t believe we’re gonna get three characters in unrequited love with blake. so anyway basically blake and yang are fuckign in love and i cannot wait for them to reunite and fucking realize it. thanks rwby! i love it
