I’m very proud of you, Anakin.
It’s always jumped out at me how lost and alone Anakin looks in this scene after Obi-Wan turns to leave, but also…look at the way Obi-Wan’s shoulder’s are hunched here. Like he KNOWS he’s saying goodbye for the last time, and he wants more than anything to bring Anakin with him. Nothing will ever convince me the Force wasn’t absolutely shrieking at both of them here, yelling at Obi-Wan to take Anakin with him to fight Grievous, and shouting at Anakin to not let his master go alone. And that they both just blew it off, feeling like it was their duty to do so – Obi-Wan not wanting to prioritize his attachment to Anakin above a mission, and Anakin not wanting to seem childish or like a
disappointmentbad Jedi after Obi-Wan had just praised him.It seems like both of them are silently hoping for the other to give in or for the Force to intervene
(it was TRYING but you idiots wouldn’t listen to it!), and I don’t believe for one second that if, in this moment, Anakin had tried to follow Obi-Wan, or Obi-Wan had even mentioned in passing that he’d prefer Anakin come with him, they wouldn’t have gone on that mission together, leaving Palpatine’s plans falling down around his ankles, showing his naked Sith emperor ass to the galaxy sooner rather than later. Anakin knows he should have gone with Obi-Wan. He even says it later. He should be with his Jedi bro kicking some armored bug butt, not hanging out on Coruscant waiting for shit to unfold. And Obi-Wan’s posture in this second gif says it loud and clear too.
