WELL THAT WAS FANTASTIC
- out in the absolute butt-end of nowhere, literally in the desert 20+ miles from ANYTHING, light comes on on car dashboard
- don’t know what it means, decide on continuing to nearest habitation rather than pulling over on the interstate in the dark IN THE MIDDLE OF THE DESERT
- make it 20 miles to nearest town
- pull on to off ramp, massive CRACK noise from car
- pull into gas station parking lot
- discover that one tire is completely entirely rim-resting-on-the-pavement flat
- still 30 miles from home
- locate spare tire and jack in trunk, no lug wrench
- no family anywhere close able to help
- gas station does not sell lug wrenches
- neither does the truck stop on the other side of the interstate
- wonderful gentleman overhears our pitiful pleas and offers to help
- discover that car requires a special tool which wonderful gentleman does not have
- friend calls uncle with highway patrol, he is out of state, he sends highway patrol to help
- highway patrol does not have special tool
- highway patrol drives us to oreilly’s to purchase special tool
- take selfie in back of police car
- tool acquired, ride back to car
- spare tire does not fit
- highway patrol drives us home
- takes two different cars to do so because crossing jurisdiction lines
- get home, make plan to get tire and get to car tomorrow
- back safe, plan made, all that’s left to do is burst into tears on alex (i’m still sorry)
- need to be up in 6hrs to pick up rental car
- AND THEN 6 HOUR DRIVE UP TO NEW DESTINATION
- *screaming*
