Quietly remake and fade into obscurity

I am so grumpy for so many reasons today but I’m seriously chafing at the fandom image of Pidge. Like, I don’t have an issue with she/her Pidge I honestly don’t but the way a lot of people who use those pronouns see her is…icky? Like “ooooh I want Pidge to grow her hair out again” “I think Pidge should go back to being called Katie” “I think Pidge loves to wear frilly dresses but is embaaaarrassed to in front of the other paladins” just cut it out please. Jesus christ Pidge is not a feminine character??? What proof do we have that Pidge WANTS to wear dresses and long hair and nail polish and go by Katie but doesn’t out of ~embarrassment~? Pidge ‘came out’ as a girl to all of them and NONE OF THEM made a big deal over it. There’s nothing stopping Pidge from being feminine in canon except that they seem comfortable with the role they’re in now. So why the FUCK can’t we have a gender-nonconforming girl without yall leaping all over the chance to feminize her? We can’t have a genderqueer character cause ewwww ess jay dubleyous but for the love of all that is holy can we have a nonfeminine girl? Just gross.

And do not come at me with that ‘I want a feminine girl who’s also badass’ because ya know who fills that role? MOTHERFUCKING ALLURA. She’s feminine and floaty and delicate and can kick your ass to next tuesday, and if you disagree with me on those points I’d like you to examine WHY you think that when honestly Allura is a wonderful example of femininity without giving up agency.
