The Battle Over Coruscant:

Blade-to-blade, they were identical. After thousands of hours in lightsaber sparring, they knew each other better than brothers, more intimately than lovers; they were complementary halves of a single warrior.

anakinskywkler:

I’m very proud of you, Anakin.

It’s always jumped out at me how lost and alone Anakin looks in this scene after Obi-Wan turns to leave, but also…look at the way Obi-Wan’s shoulder’s are hunched here. Like he KNOWS he’s saying goodbye for the last time, and he wants more than anything to bring Anakin with him. Nothing will ever convince me the Force wasn’t absolutely shrieking at both of them here, yelling at Obi-Wan to take Anakin with him to fight Grievous, and shouting at Anakin to not let his master go alone. And that they both just blew it off, feeling like it was their duty to do so – Obi-Wan not wanting to prioritize his attachment to Anakin above a mission, and Anakin not wanting to seem childish or like a disappointment bad Jedi after Obi-Wan had just praised him.

It seems like both of them are silently hoping for the other to give in or for the Force to intervene (it was TRYING but you idiots wouldn’t listen to it!), and I don’t believe for one second that if, in this moment, Anakin had tried to follow Obi-Wan, or Obi-Wan had even mentioned in passing that he’d prefer Anakin come with him, they wouldn’t have gone on that mission together, leaving Palpatine’s plans falling down around his ankles, showing his naked Sith emperor ass to the galaxy sooner rather than later. Anakin knows he should have gone with Obi-Wan. He even says it later. He should be with his Jedi bro kicking some armored bug butt, not hanging out on Coruscant waiting for shit to unfold. And Obi-Wan’s posture in this second gif says it loud and clear too.

gffa:

I’M CRYING RIGHT NOW.  We all know that Pablo Hidalgo tweet about how George said Anakin had “help from the other side” to become a Force Ghost without training, which was obviously referring to Obi-Wan.  Because Obi-Wan loved Anakin always, no matter what he did, Obi-Wan loved him.  Even after the death of the Jedi and the children, even after all the monstrous things Vader did, OBI-WAN KENOBI LOVED ANAKIN SKYWALKER.  LOVED HIM ENOUGH TO BRING HIM HOME.

AND THEN HERE’S THE END OF ROTJ, WHERE ANAKIN SHOWS UP.

Yoda’s reaction to seeing Anakin Skywalker again:

He actually smiles wider, he’s happy to see Anakin returned from the dark!

Then Obi-Wan puts a hand on Yoda’s shoulder and he turns to look at Obi-Wan and gives him THIS LOOK:

“I KNOW WHAT YOU DID, YOU SMITTEN LITTLE SHIT, YOU ARE STILL SPOILING THAT KID ROTTEN.”

AND OBI-WAN’S JUST LIKE:

“YEP AND I DON’T GIVE A FUCK.  :>”

#I know this ought to be heartbreaking for me#but damn i LOVE this duel#he is so tall#and she is so smol #and she climbs him like tree #lol #honestly tho #if ANYONE could hold their own against Darth Vader#then surely it would be the very person that Anakin Skywalker had trained#there is something so insanely poetic about it #Ahsoka is a piece of Anakin’s goodness#come back to face him at long last #and THIS is why she says ‘i won’t leave you – not this time’ #because the light inside him will never be fully extinguished #and this is why i can’t help but laugh in his face when he tells her she will die #she cannot die because Anakin’s True Self can never be fully destroyed #Ahsoka lives#because Anakin’s goodness lives #Death…yet the Force #the barest flicker of persistent light (x)

The Son: Come to the dark side Anakin!
Anakin: I would never willing go to the dark side!
The Son: What if I showed you your future?
*Shows the future where Anakin has indeed gone to the dark side*
Anakin: Oh god, what do I have to do to stop this?
The Son: Okay, this is gonna sound crazy- but hear me out. Come to the dark side.
Anakin: Brilliant.
